Water was muddy as is usually the case.

We were fishing for catfish using worms on the bottom as the Black River is only a few feet deep at it’s deepest (at least by the bridge at Paw Paw Park), and the current wasn’t a huge factor, so we were able to use lighter weights.

The channel catfish were quite active as I caught 13 of them, plus the obligatory freshwater drum.  The cats were around 14-16 inches for the most part with only one being under the legal limit of 12″.  I did manage to catch two channels that were 20″ and 22″, so it’s been a great month for catfish so far (definitely best by quantity for me at least).
